What is the Anvil Splitter?

The Anvil Splitter is a legendary tech mod for the Anvil. Instead of firing one standard bullet per shot, it splits each bullet into four smaller projectiles. Each shot now covers more area, but the trade-off is that each of these smaller projectiles does less damage — about 70% of the original bullet’s power.

Here’s the key takeaway: it’s not a straight damage upgrade. It’s a spread mod. That means it’s better for certain situations but worse for others.

How Does it Work in Practice?

When you equip the Anvil Splitter, your single bullets turn into four weaker ones. You get +3 projectiles per shot, which sounds good on paper. But the reduced damage means that it takes more shots to down a single target.

In practice, the mod shines against groups of smaller enemies. If you’re fighting one tough crawler, the Anvil Splitter won’t kill it faster than a regular Anvil. Against clusters of weak enemies, though, it’s very effective because it increases your chance to hit multiple targets at once.

Here’s a real scenario: in a mid-tier map, I swapped my Anvil for the Splitter while clearing a pack of drones. The extra projectiles meant I was hitting more targets per shot, and overall, my kill speed on groups was better. But when a bigger enemy appeared, I had to switch back to standard shots or take longer to down it.

How Do Most Players Use It?

Most players treat the Anvil Splitter as a situational mod. You’ll see it used mainly in two ways:

Crowd Control: As mentioned, it’s best for waves of small enemies or when you’re defending a point with lots of spawns. The spread reduces the need for pinpoint aim, letting you focus on positioning.

Synergy With Other Mods: Some tech mods or squad setups make the splitter stronger. For example, combining it with mods that increase rate of fire or add elemental damage can compensate for the lower per-projectile damage.

It’s less common to see it used for boss fights or single-target DPS, because it doesn’t excel there.

What About Damage and Accuracy?

The biggest trade-off is damage. Each projectile does about 30% of the standard bullet’s power. That sounds extreme, but it’s offset somewhat by hitting multiple targets.

Accuracy is also affected. With four bullets per shot, spread can hit enemies that are slightly off-center. However, at long range, the individual projectiles are weaker and may miss critical shots, making it less reliable than the stock Anvil for precise sniping.

Cost and Acquisition

The Anvil Splitter isn’t something you buy early. It’s a legendary mod, so it requires scavenging or completing high-level missions to get its blueprint. The mod weighs 0.5 units and can be sold for 7,000 coins if you ever need to recoup resources.

A quick tip: before committing, check your stock of arc raiders blueprints. If you already have the Anvil or related mods, getting the Splitter might complement your existing loadout. Otherwise, it’s a bit of an investment for a situational tool.

Recycling and Salvaging

If you decide the Anvil Splitter isn’t for you, recycling and salvaging are straightforward:

Recycling gives 1 Mod Component and 1 Processor.

Salvaging returns 2 Mechanical Components.

This is useful if you want to try other tech mods without losing all your resources.

Who Should Consider Using It?

Players who often face crowds of smaller enemies. The Splitter really shines when there’s more than one target per shot.

Those who prefer area control over raw damage. If you like making a zone unsafe for enemies, it can be handy.

Teams that use complementary mods to make up for the damage drop. Coordination matters here.

Who shouldn’t? Anyone focused on single-target damage or long-range precision. Against tough enemies, it’s slower and less effective.

Is the Anvil Splitter worth it? It depends entirely on how you play. It’s not a universal upgrade. If you’re farming mobs or want to control the battlefield, it’s a strong situational tool. If you need raw DPS against bosses, stick with the standard Anvil or other single-shot mods.

Think of it as a specialized weapon mod. It won’t replace your main damage dealer, but it can make certain fights easier and more efficient.

The Anvil Splitter is a legendary tech mod for the Anvil weapon that changes how your shots work. Instead of firing a single standard bullet, each shot splits into four smaller projectiles, spreading out over a wider area. Each of these smaller bullets does about 70% of the original damage, so it’s not a direct damage upgrade—it’s a spread-focused mod.

In practice, this means the Anvil Splitter is better for hitting groups of smaller enemies because it increases the chance to strike multiple targets at once. Against a single strong enemy, however, it’s less effective since each projectile is weaker, and it will take more shots to kill. Essentially, it trades per-bullet damage for area coverage and crowd control.

It’s a situational mod: perfect for crowds, less ideal for lone tough enemies.
